Recently, a patron asked how the TCC libraries got their names. The Northwest Campus Walsh Library is named for F. Howard and Mary D. Walsh. On February 7, 1969, the Walsh family donated 193 acres to Tarrant County Junior College to construct a Northwest Campus. Mr. Walsh stated, “We’re just happy to furnish the land in that area and we think it will be a great boon to the Northwest quadrant of the city” (Dromgoole). Groundbreaking took place on February 14, 1973, and the campus formally opened in 1976.
