With the first semester of Summer down and the main Fall semester fast coming upon us, Walsh Library has been busying itself with preparations. Books have been bought. Shelves and furniture have been cleaned. Events have been planned.
One event, we are particularly looking forward to, is our “Welcome Back Event” featuring the library’s new prize wheel. Our goal at the Walsh Library is to give students a positive experience here at TCC. And with that in mind, we’re going to give away some prizes and make it fun in the process!
Said Walsh Library Manager, Mrs. Wedgeworth, “We’re looking forward to welcoming both new and returning students this Fall. We wanted to show our students how much we appreciate them and their patronage. Hopefully, they will enjoy this small token of the Walsh library’s gratitude. Dates and times for the official unveiling of our prize wheel will be forthcoming”.
Our library is excited to announce a renewed commitment to our graphic novels collection and has begun to expand the section significantly. As our new Director, Alex Potemkin said, “These aren’t the comic books your grandparents said would rot your brain. These are fully formed graphic novels that will rot your brain.”
Work has also begun on a dynamic new collection: The NW Manga Collection. Titles include Bleach, Black Butler, and Fruit Basket. Our sincere thanks go out to staff member, Melanie Hecko for running point on this project.
Another popular request from our past patrons has been to improve our vending capabilities. You asked and we have answered. We are pleased to introduce Smart Market which we anticipate will be installed soon.
“Smart Market is a self-checkout retail spot designed to be simple, safe and secure, making it the perfect solution for public locations…we’ve got you covered with snacks, drinks and meal options galore–250 to 400 products, to be exact!
Did we mention the better-for-you offerings? We know the importance of health and wellness, so we’re making nutritious options convenient for our shoppers. And for all you coffee enthusiasts out there, we serve Starbucks premium coffee, ground and brewed fresh by the cup.” (Smart Market).
Sound good? It did to us too!
Last but not least, A set of binoculars is now available for patrons to take full advantage of the magnificent views from our windows. So whether you are an avid birdwatcher or starstruck moon gazer, we hope you will enjoy this small addition to our library.
So, to all our students out there, we are looking forward to seeing in the Walsh Library this Fall.
