Did you know that TCC offers downloads of Microsoft Office 365: Education edition for FREE to all current students, faculty, and staff? Stop by the NE Library Computer Learning Center (LCLC) to pick up detailed written instructions on how to access this offer and install your own free copy.
Each user can download the program on up to 5 computers (PC or Mac), 5 tablets, and 5 mobile phones. The subscription includes Microsoft products like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and more.

IMPORTANT! Action Required: Changes to Your Free Personal Microsoft Office Account with myTCC
Tarrant County College (TCC) is working to make your login experience faster and easier. Over the last few months, we’ve been gearing up to launch One Login, TCC’s Single-Sign-On project. To support this effort, we are required to make changes to myTCC that will temporarily impact your free personal use of Microsoft Office.
What is a myTCC Personal Use Account?
- Microsoft Office (MS) 365 is available via your my.tccd.edu email account for personal devices and MS Office 365 online.
- This subscription includes products such as OneDrive, Sharepoint, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Here’s what you need to know:
- Effective May 25th, you will no longer have access to your current personal use Microsoft Office account through myTCC.
- In preparation for required updates, move any documents you have stored in your online MS Office 365 account to an alternate location prior to May 24th.
- All documents and data associated with your myTCC personal use Microsoft Office account will no longer be available as of May 25th.
- Prior to May 24th, take the steps necessary to download any files and/or data associated with your myTCC personal use Microsoft Office account.
- After May 28th, you will have the ability to create a new personal use Microsoft Office account with your same myTCC username and password where you will have the opportunity to re-upload documents and more. Information Technology will send instructions for how to create a new personal use Microsoft Office account.
We sincerely apologize for this temporary inconvenience due to upcoming enhancements. We look forward to offering you a new single-sign-on experience with TCC in the coming months and will send additional reminders as we get closer to this change. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please submit them via email to One-Login@tccd.edu.

If you haven’t visited the NE Library Computer Learning Center lately, you really should come by and see what’s new and available for Students at Northeast Campus. We’re taking it to the next level! Students can receive assistance with basic software tools, access programs for their academic courses that are exclusive to the LCLC – not available anywhere else on campus – and work on extra credit for some of their classes. We also have 3D Printing services available for both class work and personal projects… Come see us! Our knowledgeable LCLC Team will be glad to help you access the technology and resources you need.
We have a new batch of Dell Laptop Computers that students may check out for up to 4 hours each, at no charge, to use anywhere in the NE Library. We also have 30 desktop PCs located in the LCLC, loaded with not only the complete Microsoft Office package, but also the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite, for students who are into digital music, movie editing, Photoshop, desktop publishing, etc… There are also several other specialized software programs to support a number of the academic disciplines on campus. There are Mac computers available as well, if students prefer to use those instead… Coming in the next few months (Fall 2018), we will be adding a set of brand-new Google Chromebooks.
The Library Computer Learning Center offers students (and faculty/staff) access to the Rosetta Stone language-learning software, complete with microphones for interactive speech tutorials. Our machines are all updated consistently and we strive to stay current with the newest available technology.
Our scanners are available to use at any time, including the our new high-speed, high-resolution KIC scanner, which lets the user scan full-size images (artwork, lecture notes, or chapters of a textbook, borrowed from the Circulation Desk) quickly and easily, in just a matter of seconds.
Coming later this Fall, we will be unveiling the next addition to the LCLC’s Technology Services: a new pair of Oculus: Go virtual reality headsets.
We have three different 3D Printers that students can use (again – at no cost to them) and the software available to design your own unique, original 3D models… You can also pull a design straight off the internet and print it, if that is your preference. This includes a brand-new SLA Resin 3D printer (SLA stands for stereo-lithiographic apparatus) which creates models with extremely fine detail, and offers increased hardness, durability, etc. We are also looking at other ways to expand our student MakerSpace options in the near future.
Faculty are always welcome to arrange visits to the LCLC with their classes, and we will be glad to accommodate you. If you are looking for a place to proctor an online test for the whole class… come see us. If you want to give your students guidance in their online research, or demonstrate any of our database tools, this might be the perfect environment for your class to gather. Or, if you prefer to meet in either the Heritage Room or Library Classroom, we also have a mobile laptop classroom set that can be booked and set up for your use.

** Library Computer Learning Center and the Lower Level will shut down 15 minutes before closing time.
Currently enrolled TCC Students with a campus ID card may check out up to 10 items from the library at one time… including books, DVDs, audiobooks, technology, and more. Most items check out for 3 weeks during the Fall & Spring semesters. DVDs and technology may be limited to a 1 week checkout period. The TCC Library does not charge daily overdue fines in the way that some public libraries do, but items that are severely overdue may be declared “lost” and billed to your student account. This can cause a block or hold to be placed on your account, preventing class registration… so be sure to turn your books in on time!

The Library’s Computer Learning Center – or LCLC – is located on the lower floor of the Library and is open 7 days a week. We offer assistance with MS Office programs, as well as scanning, 3D printing, Mac stations, language learning tools, extra credit, and specialized software to support several of the academic programs on NE Campus. LCLC Team members also oversee the library’s five group study rooms. All of our services – including the 3D printers – are available for TCC students to use at no cost. The Reference Desk is staffed by friendly, knowledgeable librarians who are there to help guide research, answer questions, and point you in the right direction on your quest for information. The Librarians are experts in our databases, as well as the print collection, and can help you determine the best type of resource to meet your need. Of course, the library’s website and online services are always available 24/7. Students can access our web-based resources on their home computer or mobile device by logging in with their current MyTCC id and password.

As we continue to see increased numbers of students who prefer to study and attend classes online, more and more of our TCC faculty are assigning tests and exams to be completed over the internet. These online services are primarily used by students who do all of their coursework via Blackboard and the TCC Connect virtual campus… but they may also be used as tools for more “traditional” professors who teach on-campus, but allow students’ exams to be scheduled outside of normal class hours.
In either case, students need to access their exams through a secure service, while the College has to ensure that all the same rules and standards for academic excellence are followed online, just as they would be in a face-to-face classroom.
That’s where Proctor-U comes in…
As of Fall 2017, TCC has partnered with Proctor-U as an official proctoring service to monitor and maintain academic integrity through online testing. Students would download the required software, set an appointment with a certified proctor, and then take their test online while the proctor keeps watch over their progress through the computer. Testing in this way requires a private, well-lit space in which to complete the exam, a computer with high-speed internet, a webcam, and a few other requirements that you can read about HERE.
Unfortunately, not all of our students have access to the necessary technology at home, and not everyone has a quiet place to work… but we are happy to help provide those resources for our students at the Northeast Campus Library.
The J. Ardis Bell Library is offering Proctor-U students the space and technology access you’ll need to complete your online exams. All you have to do is….
- Schedule your testing appointment with Proctor-U ahead of time (at least 72 hours before your exam is due).
- Come into the Library on the day of your exam – at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment time – and check in at the Library Computer Learning Center desk on the lower level. Be prepared to show a copy of your testing appointment confirmation email.
- If you don’t have a personal laptop or webcam, we can check out a computer for you to use with the necessary equipment. For that, you will need to show your current TCC Student ID card.
- As your exam time approaches, the LCLC Staff will assist you in accessing a private Study Room on the lower floor of the Library, where you will be able to take your exam. At this point, we have two study rooms set aside as “Proctor-U Priority” testing sites. When not in use for testing, these rooms are available for any members of our campus community to use for private or small-group study.
- Once the exam is finished, you will need to go back into the Library Computer Learning Center and let the staff know that you’re done. At that point, the room will become available for public use again.
- All Proctor-U testing should be completed no later than 30 minutes prior to the library’s scheduled closing time. On Mon-Thurs weeknights, that would be 9:30 PM. On Friday and Saturday evenings, tests should be finished by 8:30 PM. Any Sunday afternoon exams would need to end by 4:30 PM.
- Unfortunately, students are NOT able to reserve Study Rooms in advance, under any circumstance. All Library Study Rooms are available only on a first-come, first-served basis. We will grant “priority status” to students with Proctor-U testing appointments, but we can not *guarantee* that a room will always be available.
- In the event that both of our “Proctor-U Priority” testing rooms are already in use, then we will explore other options within the Library… If no alternative sites are available, then a student may be referred to other areas on campus, or to reschedule their appointment with Proctor-U.
- Use of Library Study Rooms is a privilege – not a right. While we make every effort to accommodate our students’ needs, Library Staff may ask any user to vacate a study room at any time, and for any reason.
- Students using any Library facilities are expected to adhere to all rules in the Student Code of Conduct, and treat the NE Library as an extension of the classroom learning environment at all times.

Power Up at Your Library Week (“Power Up” Week), October 1-7, is a time to celebrate Texas libraries and librarians and to promote library use and support. The Texas Library Association started this promotion last year and the J. Ardis Bell Library at TCC Northeast Campus has joined in the fun with activities scheduled for Oct. 2-6. We’ll have creative crafts to make (bookmarks and pencil cases) and several stand-up characters to take Selfies with.
Want to see how a 3D printer works? Wander downstairs to the Library Computer Learning Center. Our LCLC staff can show you some items that have been printed using the NE Library’s 3D printers.
