Student Services FAQs
How do I check out a book? Your student ID is your library card and can be used at all TCC libraries. You can obtain your student ID from the Copy Center which is located in the NE Library.
Can I give my ID to someone to check out a book for me? For security purposes, we do not allow friends to check out or pick up books for friends. Only the student can pick up or check out items.
Does the library carry my textbooks? While the library does not have the space or the funds to provide all textbooks, some are provided by the instructor or the department. Textbooks are placed on reserve and can be found at the Checkout desk. Most reserve materials are checked out for 2 hours and must remain in the building.
Can I request a book from another TCC Campus? Yes, a request for a book from another TCC campus can be made by using a form available at the both the Reference and Checkout desks.
How do I renew a book? A book can be renewed by bringing the book to the Checkout desk. If you do not have your book(s) with you, you can still renew with your student ID, even if it is overdue. However, a book may not be renewed if a hold has been placed on it.
Can I check out books at local public libraries or university libraries? You can obtain a library card from your city’s public library, as well as a TexShare card to use at other TexShare participating libraries. Then you will be allowed to check out books from other TexShare participating libraries whether academic or public.
How do I get a TexShare card? You can obtain a TexShare card at the Checkout desk with a current TCC student ID. It will expire at the end of the current semester.
Are group study rooms available? Yes, the NE Library has 5 group study rooms that are available on a first come, first served basis. They are on the lower level of the Library. The rooms comfortably hold 3-4 people and have electrical outlets. Two rooms contain 42 Inch monitors and wireless routers for students to view their work on a larger screen.
Can I see my library account online? Yes, as soon as classes begin go to http://library.tccd.edu/. Find the link: ‘My Account’ and then use your WebAdvisor info to login. You can also call 817-515-6627 or come to the library for this information.
Do you have current movies on DVD? We have many current movies on DVD, you can use your student ID to check them out.
Who can proofread my English research paper for me? There is a fully-staffed Writing Center found in the Academic Skills Center (NACB Room 1114.)
Do you charge for printing or copying materials? The NE Library charges 10 cents per page to print as well as to photocopy. You may also download to a USB drive and print at home. You also have the option of emailing information to yourself to any email address from most of the TCC databases. A scanner is also available in the Computer Learning Center on the lower level.
Does the library have Wi-Fi? Yes, the entire campus has Wi-Fi and it is available on both levels of the library. You will need to enter an email address to access it.
Can I print from my personal laptop? Not at this time. There is a security issue which restricts printing to TCC computers only. One option is to save your work to a USB drive and then print from one of our library computers. The library has laptops that may be checked out for use in the building that do allow printing.
Can I access EBSCO from Google? EBSCO, and all other TCC databases, is a subscription service, and therefore, are not available to Google, or any other search engine for indexing. This goes hand in hand with remote or off-campus access, where you will be required to use your WebAdvisor to login before accessing the resource.
